The Return of PAINTFLIX

The Return of PAINTFLIX

by Amber @ambthegoddess

Welcome to Solflower’s Blog! For those who are new here, my name is Amber. I started Solflower Studio in 2019 to provide the space and tools for the individuals on the path to internal harmony by creating a customized holistic experience.

In 2020, Solflower Studio hosted their first event, PAINTFLIX. Participants painted and sipped while watching the movie Seven Pounds. A speaker from the National Alliance of Mental Health presented to help us bring awareness to mental health. We talked about signs and symptoms and a truly supportive dialect your support system can implement that will also support their boundaries. Everyone voted best painting, so the artist could receive their prize! The energy was positive, inclusive, and still talked about to this very day. I knew that day that another PAINTFLIX was necessary

PAINTFLIX 2023 is a Catch The Sun event, which is a series of events geared toward bringing awareness to seasonal depression in Cleveland and building coping skills to manage this unfortunate geographical effect most of us experience just by lack of sun!

Solflower Studio does not diagnose or treat any disease or ailment. What I will do is hopefully help the next person skip many steps I took to reach a point in my own mental illness diagnosis that includes healthy stress management skills to avoid burnout and of course, “unaliving”. Some situations may just need help with survival. Been there, done that… sometimes still doing that! Once past survival mode, the goal is to flourish in our purpose. This feeling takes ongoing years of inner child work, research, energy work, chakra balancing, and so much more (for me and many others I’m sure at the least). No matter where you may be in your self-healing journey, my goal is to assist leveling up!

What To Expect – PAINTFLIX 2023

On March 11, 2023 from 12:00 noon to 5:30 pm, registrants will watch a live screening of the movie, Joker. It will be located at the gallery space of Convenient Vegan on Larchmere Boulevard in Cleveland, Ohio. (Be sure to check out their menu for your next vegan meal!) During the screening, painting supplies will be provided for every guest to use the therapeutic benefits of art to bring emotions from inward to the canvas.

Our featured drink will be a cacao mushroom hot beverage with cacao sourced from the sacred land of Belize. Convenient Vegan is our official caterer providing plant based wraps, salad, and soup. Each sip and bite helps the body produce the hormones it needs to elevate mood, such as serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin.

Joker is rated R, so please be prepared for (what can be) triggering subjects such as violence and mental illness. Ages 17 and up are required unless I have a parent or guardian’s permission for attendance.

After the movie, we will continue to paint and switch to dialogue. There will be a speech to offer some information and insight, followed by an open discussion to hopefully further our community’s journey to optimal health and wellness. To continue the tradition, the painting with the most votes for favorite painting will receive the prize. Everyone will leave with resources to get help for mental health struggles.

If you are struggling with mental health, please, I literally beg you to get help. Whether it be attending this event, or seeking help elsewhere. I am rooting for you, and I care. Never give up, because we need you here!
